About Colin Campbell

A little bit about myself to give you some context. I have been an avid, some would say obsessed, music fan and concertgoer since I was 13. I started a record label and productions company when I was 16 and booked about 300 shows and released nine albums in six years by mainly punk, ska, and alt-rock bands, while running the radio and tv stations at my high school and college. In my early 20s I lived in Boston and my favorite indie music venue was called The Middle East (I lived three blocks away and went there about three times a week)…so it’s a bit ironic that I am now living in the Middle East. At age 25, I moved to Los Angeles on a whim and worked for indie label Dim Mak Records for a year and half and got involved heavily in the Silverlake / Echo Park and the Hollywood scenes (and everything in between), and of course enjoyed my Coachella and SXSW experiences. Along the way, I co-released an album by a great LA rock band called Boys School. I mainly kept music as a hobby and have worked full-time doing sales and marketing for food and beverage brands like Rockstar Energy Drink and Pirate’s Booty. In late 2013, I moved back to Boston, turned 30, and reunited with an old flame, Tara, from seven years prior. In 2014, I married that flame at our incredibly beautiful and fun wedding in Rhode Island and found out we were moving to Lebanon. It’s been quite a year and I am excited to get passionate about a new music scene - thankfully Beirut seems to be very energizing! My short list of my favorite bands is difficult to make, but it here it goes - Sufjan Stevens, LCD Soundsystem, The Clash, Brand New, the White Stripes, Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Bloc Party, Beck, Thrice, Spoon, George Clinton & P-Funk, City & Colour, the Foals, Arcade Fire, Death Cab for Cutie, Kanye West, Caspian, Counterfit, and St. Vincent. Every year, I do a list & Spotify playlist of my top 50 albums and shows of each year - so please go listen!
